|
|
I may have made a mistake with my choice of volt meter and am a loss for what to do next.
The voltmeter has already been installed on the panel.
The electrical connector for the voltmeter is a typical 4 pin connector that came with short (maybe 6 inch) 4 strand wire connector.
The supplied wire is too short to reach the other components that it connect to, so I see my choices as follows:
1) not use the supplied wire and attach my wires directly to the connectors at the back of the voltmeter. But offhand, I can't figure out how to do that. I could attempt to solder them on, but they are close enough together to I do not have confidence I can get all four soldered on without having something accidentally connect to a neighbor.
2) Use the wire supplied and splice additional wire onto it, but I'm unsure what method to try to use to do that. Again, I'm thinking soldering a lineman splice, but I've never attempted that on wires so small.
3) Prying the existing voltmeter off the panel and replacing it with something easier to wire.
Anybody else ever found themselves in this situation? What is the best course of action here?
Pics of voltmeter and supplied wire are attached in you want to take a look.[/img]
