Hello, my fiance purchased the 16x16x8" enclosure (painted, not pre-punched) for my birthday for me.

Before I started punching holes in it I was trying to get it closed and locked. I am sure I am missing something but no matter what I do I am unable to get it to lock. While the door is open the lock spins fine but as soon as I close the door and try to turn the lock the "latching" mechanism just bumps up against the wall as it does not reach below the edge of the main box.

Am I supposed to just cut a slit in the main box for the latch to slide into? Or am I missing something else here? Wasn't sure if the slit cut came only on the pre-punched or if I'm just an idiot and missing something easy here.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Something doesn't sound normal. You don't need to cut any slits. You also emailed so I'm going to continue our conversation there and ask that you send some pictures so we can better understand what's going on.

Cheers!

Kal

To close the loop: Based on the pictures that you sent (thanks!), the latch portion should be bent and it looks as though it is not (the factory screwed up - oops!). Per our email discussions we're going to send you a new latch. Sorry for the issues!
