Hi all/Kal,
I've had my system put together now for a few months now and only brewed 2 batches so far. Life kinda gets in the way and I'm a little lazy sometimes cuz of back issues. Plus our sewer backup into our basement and I ripped out all of my hand built cabinets and sink and bought some cheap RTA cabinets this time, so I could get brewing quicker.
I brewed a Rye beer first. Made a couple rookie mistakes, but the beer is definitely drinkable. I wouldn't consider myself a rookie actually and kinda know enough to be dangerous. I had a 3 vessel (5 gallon batch) propane system about 7 years ago. I did around a dozen batches with that system.
I've been asked to make a couple of wheat beers for a wedding. The first wheat beer tastes good and like a plain ol' wheat beer should taste (I feel) and was at 4.99 % ABV and still fermenting (i believe) when I transferred it.
I opted to go the puree route for these wheat beers.
I guess I should've asked this question last week as I already transferred the beer to another FV.
Is there a way to do a closed transfer to a second FV and add the puree at the same time?
I sanitized the receiving FV and pushed out the liquid with co2, transferred the beer using co2, then quick as i could, added the puree through one of the TC ports on top of the FV.
When I brewed years ago, my beer was exposed to oxygen when transferring (and other times) and i feel my beer was good. I know some brewers go to great lengths to stop oxygen exposure all together in their brewing process.
I made wine for years before I started home brewing. And I know when you ask a question online, you will get a dozen different answers, so lets here them.
Hank
