My EB is from Kal's kit of parts. Is it possible to set the brew kettle PID to default to M instead of A mode? If so, how. Thanks.

I believe that if the PID is set up to allow MANUAL mode to be used (setting A/M is either 0 or 1, but not 2) then it'll always default to MANUAL when the PID powers up as you'll see the A/M light is on which denotes MANUAL mode. It may be displaying the AUTO set value (SV) however which is temperature instead of percentage. If that's the case hit the SET button to display "M ???".

The PID is setup to allow switching as per the EB instructions. However, I'd prefer to have it set to M by default since the manual mode is used for brewing.

I just tested it. No matter what mode I was in when the panel was turned off, if the A/M setting is set to 0 (per the setup instructions), when you turn the panel on it'll be in manual mode. See my post above.

I just checked and the brewing PID is set to 0 as per the control panel (setup) instructions.

I guess it's the "It may be displaying the AUTO set value (SV) however which is temperature instead of percentage. If that's the case hit the SET button to display "M ???"." and needing to remember to press the SET button to switch to M.
