I seem to have a small issue when brewing using wheat or oats, specifically in NEIPAS. It seems every time I brew using them my original gravity is coming in around 0.04 below the target.
I have my system / recipes pretty much dialled in.... I think. When I brew a beer with standard pale, Maris, Pilsner, Carapils malts I hit the target bang on every time.... when I make a NEIPA and add in the wheat / oats in larger quantities the OG is just not hitting where it is expected. I have tried this with a few different recipes now and get the same result.
Does anybody have an idea as to why this might happen? Or is it just coincidental and I’ve messed up somewhere in the process?
Thanks
Rivet
