This glycol fermentation temp control system on Kickstarter appeared in my facebook feed the other day.

I already have a chest freezer that I use for fermentation and can't really see myself upgrading to this. That said, if anyone ends up backing this (or has), I'd be curious what your experiences are. Seems like the pain with this type of setup is ensuring that the coils are perfectly sanitized. I also wonder if condensation ends up being a problem on the outside of whatever fermentation vessel is being used.

I'm generally not a fan of these compressor based glycol chillers because of the noise, but that's just for my use as my brewery/fermentation area is near my home theater. Most of these compressor based glycol chillers are basically window air conditioners with the cooling coils in a reservoir that you fill with glycol. Most run much louder than a fridge or freezer, just like a window A/C unit. The Statis was also the noisiest of the bunch in this recent comparison (though it was a pre-production unit and they promise it'll be quieter): https://beerandbrewing.com/gear-test-small-scale-chillers/

That said, having choice is good. There are certainly many more options for temperature control today as compared to 20 years ago where the only option was basically converting a fridge or freezer.
