|
|
Hi all,
I purchased the 30 amp control panel back in July, and yesterday I hit my first problem with it. I have read through the entire 'how to build your own' control panel section so am familiar enough with the wiring, but by no means am I an electrical engineer. I have brewed 3 successful batches so far, all within about a 2 week period. Yesterday I was testing something with my ventilation so I had my boil kettle heating element going for a couple of hours. I turned the element and the panel off, then hooked up the hoses to my pump to drain out the kettle. I went to turn on the control panel and it was simply dead.
There was no sound, no smell, no obvious problems that I saw on the interior, it simply isn't powering on now. I used a voltmeter to test the outlet and it has power, so the breaker didn't trip or anything. What would be some good first steps to diagnose this problem, and what component(s) am I looking at troubleshooting or replacing first?
Cheers,
Travis

Hi Travis,
I looked up your order and it was a 30-amp pre-assembled control panel.
Just to make sure, when you go to turn the panel are both pump switches and the ELEMENT SELECT switch in the OFF position? For safety reasons the panel will not power up if any of these are in the 'ON' position. (This is part of our safe start interlock feature).
Let us know. Otherwise I'll ask that you email us at sales@TheElectricBrewery.com and we'll do some pinpointing with the manufacturer to figure out what's going on and get you back up ASAP.
Sorry for the troubles!
Kal

Hi Kal,
Yes I am turning on the panel where the element and both pump switches are in the off position. I made sure to test the fail-safe mechanism as well when I initially received the control panel to ensure all of them were working properly and they were. If you have any other suggestions let me know, otherwise I can follow up and email you at the address provided. Thanks for the quick response!

Our troubleshooting guide may help but best that you email so that we can get the manufacturer involved and this resolved for you ASAP. It’s likely a simple fix and we will look after getting this working right. Sorry again for the troubles!
