Hello!

I received my Hopstopper 2.0 and had my first brew yesterday. The results were much better than when I used the original - So that is good.

So I am having a problem with my welded bulkhead being slightly angled up leaving about 3/4 of an inch above the bottom of the keggle. It equated to about 36oz of liquid.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to bend the dip tube and not crimp it, should I measure and purchase a new one or just forget about the 2ish pints I am losing?

Thanks!

Hi!

I looked up your order and we supplied you the dip tube (you mentioned that the outlet port vertical height distance above bottom of kettle was 2.875"). That's not enough of a drop I guess?

Given that the dip tube was built by the Hop Stopper manufacturer, I'd send them an email on the best way to bend it - they're at HopStopper@TheElectricBrewery.com. They'll be able to assist.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the Hop Stopper 2.0!

Figured I'd post the manufacturer response here in case anyone else ends up ordering a dip tube that's a bit too short:

Quote:
Michael,

If you want to get a little lower, what you can do is rotate the dip tube 90 degrees with it installed and tighten the connector fitting. Now you can use your hands to gently push the dip tube sideways to give it a little bend. Rotate the dip tube back to see how close it is and repeat. You could also use a hammer and just give it a few light taps. Just be very careful. The tube shouldn’t crimp as long as you are gentle and don’t put a very big bend in it. You aren’t looking for more than a half inch or so.

Prosit!
