Good evening all,

Brewed last Friday (yay!) for the first time in years (boo!) and my timer wasn't resetting when I pushed the red button.

A few things:
It worked years ago so I know at one point that it was functional.
The timer counts down if you turn it off and back on.
The alarm sounds work great for reaching temperatures and when the countdown hits 0.
I checked the wiring and it *looks* fine. The case was closed the entire time it was in storage and it didn't fall or be damaged in any way.
Settings match control panel set up:
Func: 'OndL"
trnG: Set to Minutes and Seconds.
tdir: "dn"
PrSt: "Off"
FrSt: "Off"
Slvl: "2"

Seems like it is probably the reset button. Any other ideas?

Thanks!
perogi.

It may simply be a bad $2 Normally Open (NO) contactor on the back of the momentary contact RESET pushbutton.

If you're ok with working in the panel with the power on, try this: On the timer socket short pins 6 and 7 together with a piece of wire while it's counting down. That'll do the same as a reset and you should see the timer start back up at whatever value you had it set to and start counting down again. If that works, you need a new $2 contactor. Email me at sales@TheElectricBrewery.com and we can assist.

Cheers!

Kal

I used a wire to cross the back part of the NO connector and it reset it (see attachment). Also realized that it would work if you clicked the button the right way (but this was inconsistent).

Sound like I need a new NO connector?

Thank you,
perogi.

Yup! Shoot us an email if you like. It’s about a $2 part. Note that we use what we think are considerably better ones now than we used to as they’re more reliable.

You're welcome! Look for a reply soon from Mike. I'm busy working on a brand new online store for these parts and more, so hopefully soon it'll be easier as I'd just point you to:
