Normally PIDs will either work with a 120V AC relay, or a 12V DC SSR. This is because the voltage is completely different. So you need to buy a model that matches the device you want to drive. Some PIDs may offer a switch or setting to go between the two, or offer two different drive outputs. The SYL-2352 has 12VDC output for controlling a 12V DC SSR. You could technically also drive a relay, as long as it's a 12V DC relay.
Note: Normally you don't want to drive 'regular' mechanical relays with PIDs as they'll turn on/off too often and wear out the mechanical points in the relay. That's why we use SSRs (which are solid state). See the "HOW IT WORKS" section here: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/control-panel-part-2?page=11
Cheers!
