Does anyone know how the resale value of these panels is affected in a DIY vs Pre-assembled kit? I'm guessing the resale market is tough either way, but I can imagine it's even harder to sell a DIY or clone panel because you don't know how well someone built it. Just thinking ahead in case I buy the 30A and want to upgrade to the 50A later. Would hate to go DIY trying to save some money and find out it's harder to sell.

If I could do it all over again, I would buy the pre-assembled. No question. I spent a lot of money to get the tools to do it right and lord knows how many hours to build it.
Also, if you have ANY inkling of using a 50 amp model, get that one.

My two cents
I built my panel from a Electric Brewery kit. Building was a lot of work, but the satisfaction and education were well worth the effort. However, the Spike-Innovations built panels are a thing of beauty to look at.
I just looked at the prices, comparing the 30 Amp v. 50 Amp and Assembled v DIY. If you think about every going to 50 Amp, do it now. The 50 Amp Kit is less than the 30 Amp assembled panel, so my suggestion is to get the 50 Amp kit and build it yourself.

I enjoyed building mine. Plus if you know how to build it you can better fix something that breaks. But yes to your original statement, if you think you would ever sell than you should purchase the pre-assembled one.

I also enjoyed building my Kal kit. +1 for knowing how it works. I opted for the pre-punched panel and I would think any future buyer would not hesitate to purchase my controller.

I went the pre-assembled route. I’m glad I did, but I see both ways. Being someone who is extremely risk averse, I wanted something to work right out of the box and know it’s close to 100% safe (nothing is ever 100% right). I also spent a fair amount of time on the rest of my basement build out so I could use the time I would have spend assembling the panel to finish my basement.
Regardless, I think you’ll be very happy with the end product. It’s really brought the fun back to brewing. Good luck.
