I use it and it can be helpful depending on what you want to get out if it. It comes with a lot of recipes preloaded. It also has recipes included for most of Northern Brewers kit's.
I use it mainly to store my own recipes in. I really like that when I go to the store to purchase my ingredients I have the recipe in my phone. I also like that once you input your recipe it will set timers for your hop additions. It shows a screen with each of your additions and time remaining until each addition. It also has a SG temperature correction calculator and If you keg it will show correct setting for your regulator based on the temperature and volume of CO2 desired. It shows the common range for the style of beer you brewed.
It has several other calculators that I have never used such as a pitching rate and attenuation.
Everything it does can easily be done with an online calculator or even by hand. I do find it convenient to have everything together on my phone and tablet and is worth the few dollars the app costs.
