For this application would there be any negative to buying welded tubing? I'm seeing it on eBay super cheap $60 for 100 ft. At that price would you be worried about poor welds and a vulnerability for corrosion?

Are you asking about buying a 50' piece of tubing that was welded together out of possibly scrap pieces for use as a HERMS coil?

If done properly it should work fine. If the welds are poor then they may indeed have corrosion or flow issues. It's impossible to comment on the quality of work in a 'general' manner I'm afraid. The same is true for any weld work.

Cheers!

I would assume that he is referring to welded seam tubing instead of seamless tubing.

Ah! That makes sense. The same comments would apply. All depends on how well it was done I suppose. Either way, good luck to the OP!
