I brew out side on the deck and have to assemble and dissemble the electric parts every brew day, I leave the kettles and pumps out there under a grill tarp so over the winter I store my parts in plastic bins and slide onto shelves in the house so I guess I was tired and it was late one brew day and I threw everything in to one tub and put that tub in the garage and forgot about it, my brew panel was safe in the house but I had all my goodies i use to brew with salts, Ph stuff, campden tablets even pbw in that tub all winter all in sealed baggies, so this spring I went savaging parts to set up for my spring cleaning and i found my temperature probe cables in that same tub, so I hooked everything up and my pids were going crazy, they would connect disconnect read wrong I was so pissed.

So long story short the campden tablets bag had popped open and looks like the acid tarnished the cable ends with a white oxidation, these are those auberins quick disconnects I have them on both ends of my cables, it will not come off Ive tried soaking in vinegar, wd40 with sand paper it will seem to work until they sit for a while then the corrosion comes back, so anyone have any ideas how to remove Potassium Metabisulfite corrosion off of stainless steal permanently? I really hate to remake these its not my favorite thing to do

Ive brewed off and on with other equipment and a couple of times with my big rig during good days but I spend too much time messing with those connections and it could just trow everything off if it decides to lose ground

If the stainless is truly corroded (damaged or destroyed) you can't "remove" it. You'd have to replace.

I can't tell from pictures if they're actually corroded (damaged) or just covered in something that could be cleaned off/removed.

Stuff on the outside shouldn't matter anyway, as long as the locking connectors work. Since they don't seem to work electrically I can only assume that there's been some internal corrosion too. You'll have to take them apart to try and fix them / see what the issue is. Or buy new ones.

yeah seems like the inner post is the ground to the socket, the pins work but the ground fails, so I can sand that post with wd 40 and it works for a day but what a pain, you bump it and it resets the pid

now that I think about it that cant be right the pins are all that makes a connection so the outer metal and socket don't even matter, I should be concentrating on the holes which I think are aluminum sleves

No idea, sorry. If you're sure it's the potassium metabisulphite that did this to the stainless, you can try Googling around a bit to see if there's any way to remove it. Good luck!
