Hello there -
Had to put the brewery on hold for a move but now that we're settled, lots to do.
With everything else upgrading, I decided to upgrade my motor from the one that I ripped out of an old drill press to a gear motor that has significantly more torque. I got a fwd/rev drum switch to operate it but am a little baffled by the wiring requirements.
First off, the motor is indeed able to be used for CW and CCW use.
Here is the schematic provided with the motor for CW and CCW wiring.
There are 5 wires, colored and labelled as such...
#1 Black
#2 Brown
#3 Blue
#4 Gray
Green w/Yellow Stripe (ground)
Here are the wiring schematics on the inside of the drum switch...
To be totally honest I'm utterly baffled by how to bridge the two. All help is appreciated.
Cheers. It is good to be back!

How you wire it depends on the direction you want the motor to spin for "Forward"?
Incoming power hot should go to terminal 1
Incoming power neutral should go to terminal 5
Motor wire 1 to terminal 2
Motor wire 4 to terminal 6
To turn the shaft counter clockwise (meaning the mill shaft turns clockwise):
Motor wire 2 to terminal 3
Motor wire 3 to terminal 4
If you need the motor to turn clockwise (meaning the mill shaft turns counter clockwise):
Motor wire 3 to terminal 3
Motor wire 2 to terminal 4
The incoming power ground and the motor ground should junction to the ground screw in the switch.
Enjoy!

Thanks Walleye, appreciate the feedback - I'll give this a go tonight.

Well I'm apparently all out of ring terminals and it was too late to run out, so instead I illustrated Walleye's directions. Will probably be of use to someone else. Helps me (at least) make sense of it this way.
Cheers.

The only thing about what Walleye said is that with a drum switch, is that you don't need to swap wires with that switch, unless you want the motor to turn clockwise with the switch turned to the left, or vice versa.

I have been trying to help jrmontecarlo wire a new motor he just received.
It appears the new motors have a slightly different wiring setup than the original motors and have six wires terminating at a block in the motor junction box, rather than four wires coming out of the motor junction box.
If anyone gets one of these motors know that the All American directions are not very clear on how to wire the motor to a drum switch if you want reverse, but work great if you only want it to go one direction.
If you want to use a drum switch to get your motor to reverse, you will need to fashion the four wire cable (5 with ground) yourself that goes between the switch and motor.
Then:
Motor wire 1 & 3 connect to drum switch terminal 2
Motor wires 2 & 4 connect to drum switch terminal 6
Motor wire 5 connect to drum switch terminal 3
Motor wire 6 connect to drum switch terminal 4
Drum switch terminals 1 & 5 remain the hot and neutral feeds respectively.
This should make the motor turn clockwise when the drum switch is set to forward, and counterclockwise in reverse.
