I recently tried a peanut butter milk stout from Dead Frog Brewery, it was very, very good and i would like to clone this beer.

From the label- A silky smooth milk stout with cocoa beans and peanut butter.

2-row
cara munich
crystal dark
wheat
chocolate
black
roast barley
flaked oats
peanut butter
lactose
hops-millamette, golding 5% abv

I was wondering if i can add the peanut butter, lactose, midnight wheat, and some cocoa powder to my existing oatmeal stout recipe below.

post boil 12 gal batch.

15# pale malt
2# flaked oats
1.5 # victory
1# 4 0z chocolate malt 200 L
1# flaked barley
1 # roast barley 500 L
1 # c/c 80 L
4 oz chocolate malt 450 L
4 oz willamette 60 min
1.75 qts/lb mash thickness, mash temp 156, sparge 170
wyeast 1084 irish ale yeast.
ferment @ 64 f 21 days

Should i drop some base malt to account for the peanut butter and lactose?

What amounts of the grain bill would you change?........I am not too handy with brewing software.

Thanks for any and all input.

I highly recommend using PB2 powdered peanut butter. They press the oil out of it and it works very well for brewing. I put 2 jars (4 or 5 oz each IIRC) in each 5 gallon batch in the secondary. Don't change the malt bill because Lactose and PB2 are infermentals.

Check out the Chocolate Covered BEAVR Nuts kit from Midwest. It lists the ingredients for that recipe and I've brewed that one several times. Quite tasty. You can really bring out the PB flavor by rousing the PB by swirling the carboy several times over the course of a few days. If you want it milder, just let the PB2 settle out. You'll have about 3" of PB at the bottom of the carboy once it all settles out.

The oil in regular peanut butter was a concern for head retention, i all so see other recipies where people say the powdered cocoa will give a bitter finish to beer so i may go with cocoa nibs.

Thanks for the info wscottcross.
