In Sweden chopped Jack Daniels-barrels are sold for barbecue-purposes. I have used these with good results.

Nice - it also once gave me a gold medal in the Swedish National Homebrew Competition with a 1700-century Porter. It also contained , besides Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces clausseni, liquorice and "burnt" sugar. And, of course, malt and hops.
