For those that don't know what it is:
Quote: | Decoction Mashing is a way to conduct multi-step mashes without adding additional water or applying heat to the Mash Tun. It involves removing about a third of the Mash to another pot where it is heated to conversion temperature, then boiled and returned to the Mash Tun. |

I've never had an interest in it myself, but if I was to do it, I wouldn't put grain & water in the boil kettle and try that way as the heating element may scorch it and I think it would be an absolute pain to clean. Your heating element may not be low enough either.
Instead, I'd use a small portable induction cooktop (They use a standard 120V/15A outlet and are about about $50-100) plus a small induction pot with a thick clad bottom ($40-80). Much easier to use, lift, dump, clean, etc. Make sure to stir frequently as you're going to have a thick porridge which is liable to burn if you don't stir.
I have a couple of outlets above my counter to the left of my sink just for something like this... in case I ever want to go retro with mashing.
