So, I was picking up some goodies from the non-local brew-mart and they put up 50# of French Pilsner 10L for free...it went into the back of the truck ASAP...any recipe suggestions? Smile

This is Belgian Pils malt right? Who's the maltster?

Are you sure it's 10L? That's crazy high for what sounds like a base malt. Most pils or 2-row would be around 1-2L.

Assuming it's your typical 1-2L Belgian pils it would be an excellent base malt for pale lager, Belgian ales, wheat beers, etc. Or pretty much anything else really if you don't care about sticking 100% to "style". (I will use pils malt in a pinch as a replacement for 2-row if I'm out of two row.... the slightly more grainy taste of pils malt as compared to 2-row is completely lost in a lot of the hoppy beers I make. Breweries will use 2-row for beers like these simply because it's less expensive).

Yep, the bag said 9-10L...no other info that I can remember on the bag other than French pilsner. Somebody ordered it and then didn't want it, so they just let it go for free.

That's the strange part. If it's Belgian (French) Pils malt, it's not 9-10L.
