|
|
I have a 3-tap home keggerator, with three Perlick 575SS taps.
One has recently just started pouring REALLY fast... like 2-3 times the volume.
I didn't change anything else internally (i.e., tubing lengths, etc.)...
Just to be sure it was the tap (and not a super carbonated keg), I switched kegs and it pours fast no matter what keg it's on.
Any idea?

Strange. Are all 3 taps on the same regulator (ie: at the same pressure)?

Well it's a 3-way manifold, but each has it's own pressure regulator. I guess I can swop out the pressure connectors (versus both gas and liquid) and see if that affects it.
I know it's weird.

If each has it's own pressure regulator, the reg for the tap that's pushing harder is likely the culprit.

I've turned it down to like 2 psi, purged the pressure from the keg and then pulled and that particular tap still pours like crazy.
But you COULD be right. If the pressure isn't regulating correctly, (i.e, too high pressure), it could be over carbonating the beer. And even with the dispensing pressure bleed off, it's still forcing out due to the excess carbonation.
I guess the last test is to leave the tap intact and change gas line inputs from a different regulatr, and this will isolate either the tap or the regulator.

The regulator's probably shot. I've seen it happen.
