Hi everyone, I want to replace my plastic tap with SS tap. I don't the type of tap I have, but is has an hallow opening with a plastic insert. This is become dirty after a couple of keg. I remember seeing there is a type with a front sealing (Perlick ?) as oppose to back sealing. Can't retrace that info. What are the pro and con's of both type ? Any recommendations ? What about those with flow control ?

Thanks

+1 to Perlick. I have 6. The 525 model is the one you want. I'd get 100% stainless. They'll take caustic cleaning better and last you the rest of your life.

I'd stay away from the special flow control or creamer ones. Just get the regular ones. (You don't need flow control if your lines are balanced and for a real creamer you really should get a stout faucet and serve on nitro/C02 blend).

Here are some links to purchase the Perlick 525 model that help support our website at no additional cost to you:

And since you're from Canada this one will likely be the cheapest once you factor in shipping and no duties:

Good luck!

I have all rear sealing faucets and really wish I'd gone with the front sealing perlicks instead. Mine get stuck closed any time after they haven't been used for a few days and have to be pulled apart and cleaned.

+1 to the above.

If you get regular taps, you will replace them. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when.

I have 2 perlick 525ss taps. Also one cheap chrome back-sealer. I just make sure to hit that chrome tap every evening to keep it stick-free! I plan to get the chrome tap replaced with another perlick ss tap soon though.

Thanks every one, that can't be clear enough. It will be 525 Perlick X 3.

Some of you guy have up to 7 taps... I have in keg, 6 different types but my fridge only allow 4 . What do you have to keep your keg ? Horizontal freezer with temp control ? How about the length of tubing up to your keg taps, how are they kept cold? This might be a different thread subject I need to post...

Well for us newbies... I looks to be the case that the beloved 525SS is .... discontinued. It appears the replacement would be the Perlick model 630SS.

Any thoughts?

The taps I use and recommend are indeed Perlick 630SS. I actually have older models in my basement bar (what was available at the time) but the two on my sunroom kegerator are 630SS.

Links to various vendors here to purchase these: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/Perlick-stainless-steel-beer-faucet
