Can you recommend a dry yeast alternative that would produce similar results?

Unfortunately no. Never found a dry wit yeast I like. Sorry!

Will this beer still be good after a 6-8 week lager, when the optimum is to drink it after 2 weeks?

If brewed correctly and then packaged without any O2 contact I'm sure it'll still be great, though I wouldn't condition/lager this beer too long. It's not needed.
