Guys,

My volt meter is working perfectly. The amp meter is another story. It is bright as heck and started as a decimal that would fade out and then random numbers etc. I tried to cyle down the power supply and checked the voltage and it was 16v! no matter how much i turned the screw it wasnt changing.

Anyone else have this problem? and do you think both parts are duds or is the amp meter wonky because it is getting too much juice?

Also is there a way to fix the adjustment screw on that blue box to help it step down?

Thanks for your help. On top of it all i realized the locking plugs on my kettles some how dont match the recepticles. L shaped post is wrong direction!

If you remove the power supply and run it separately (with a transformer first I presume) and measure the output , is it still always 16V max? If yes, and you're using the adjustable power supplies in my build guide or book, it sounds like it's defective.

16V is a funny number: It sounds like the output of the transformer (but in DC).

The transformer is sending
20volts like the other one so I don't think that is the problem. Could the adjustment screw be broken or not contacting? Any way to fix these things without replacing as Boston is far from China. Also do you think the amp meter is toast? I plugged the other pins in and got nothing using the good supply of 4 volts[/list]

Unless you are experienced with fixing and replacing electronics at the component level, you are probably going to have to replace the power supply. If you have a 5v amp meter and was feeding it 16v, it is probably dead. Not, I'm sure what you wanted to hear.

Are your sure you turned the screw counter clockwise to lower the output?

It's a multi-turn pot too... you may have to turn it 10-20 times before it gets down to 4-5V.

If that doesn't work then it's likely defective.

Tried turning it every which way wont get out of the 15-17v range. emailed the ebay vendor to see if they will send replacement from CHina. at least the rest of the panel works.
