The National Electrical Code is available on-line. The NEC is adopted by most localities in the US as the "code" for building permits.

Most of us Electric Brewers aren't electricians, but that doesn't mean we can't think like them. The NEC is intended as a reference manual for electricians, so reading it is a little daunting. But we can learn a lot about the safe use of electricity by spending some time reading.
