Just received my 20 gal blichmann false bottom. The thing is warped pretty bad. Anyone else have a problem with theirs?

I had thus same issue. I put some heavy books on it, but it is still a touch off. I am hoping the grain and water will hold it down well enough. Anyone think this will be an issue?

The false bottoms are meant to sit on the lip on the inside of the kettle, so that channeling is reduced along the walls, and most of the flow is through the grain. You can still make beer with this, but your efficiency will be better if you can get a tight fit. Half an inch, that's more warp than star trek! You might end up sparging out your entire grain bill

Mine was the same way. Put 10-12 lbs of grain on it, it'll straighten out. I'm getting 92% efficiency.

I've also thought about wrapping the outer edge with 3/8" or 1/2" tubing. That way it will fit snug at the bottom and seal up the gaps.

Blichmann has contacted me saying to try and straighten out first. If I can't get it, they will replace it. Blichmann said they sent a bunch out to get straightened and one must have slipped by.

great to hear that Blichmann stand by what they deliver and support the customer. I have to say that my experience with customer service in the States is nothing short of totally fantastic (in stark contrast to over here ... ). The service-oriented attitude is just first class. I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is taking it for granted!
