I made the same jig and it did fine coiling. Where I really ran into issues was trying to get the coil lined up with the compression fittings. I do not want to use 90 degree elbows. Unfortunately I kept kinking the coil trying to get it to line up and after fighting it for over an hour and losing 10+ feet due to kinks I bought the pre-fab coil. It's not worth my time to keep fighting it.

90 degree elbows can restrict flow sice the 90 is not a long radius. It goes back to my Process Design background.

It's not going to restrict it enough to make a a noticeable difference. There are already enough restriction, turbulence, bends etc. in all the rest of the components when the wort goes from point A to B that these two 90-degree fittings will be negligible.

The Coil just arrived. What a beauty and it's exactly the right dimensions to pop right into place. I can't wait to get it in later tonight and then I may be brewing by the weekend.

Zach at stainless brewing really is a top notch vendor. Excellent communication, fast shipping too... I have an order in transit right now as a matter of fact.

+1 on that. And like his site mentions, if you don't see what you want just ask. He might have it on hand or he can get it.

As I remember, it needed to be rebuilt several times and finally broke for good.

Was going to offer getting the DIY roller idea back out there. What do you guys think? Used a harbor freight roller took an hour and have what I need for a coil. Willing to ship the dies to the next person for the cost of shipping. You'll have to get the tool, the dies aren't perfect but they do the job with out kinking. Highly suggest using a 90* at the end of the coil, I tried a few times to try and get the bend so the tube left parallel and that's when I would mess it up.

Did you customize a second set of roller dies to have the radius to coil tubing? What is the OD of your SS Tubing there in the photo. looks like 3/8" or 1/2" OD.

Yes I modified a set to fit the 1/2 od ss tubing. That's why I figured if people needed the dies they could just be sent around like the old jig was sent around back in the day.

Thanks Kal. You were the inspiration for making my brew day so much easier than flame throwing burners and worrying if I had enough fuel, etc. It wasn't a cheap build, but so worth every penny.

If anyone is still trying to coil these if you take a 1/4 inch piece of PEX water supply tubing and insert it into the 1/2 SS pipe it works great for bending the top and bottom connections. It supports the walls so you can bend by hand or with a conduit bender. This was my second coil I have built and was not going to battle it for a month. The PEX pipe is about $1.50 for a 6 ft piece.
