A guy over on HBT will coil your stainless to any diameter for $50 plus S/H
http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f16/1-2-ss-herms-coil-50-a-319353/
He uses the Harbor Freight roller, but had special dies made specifically for the 1/2" tubing.
After screwing up one coil, I tried again filling with sand and the first 6-inches already showed kinks, so I said screw it and sent him my coil.

Has anyone tried to make a coil jig to fit in a keggle?

Some have tried wrapping the stainless around a pinlock keg. Some have been successful. Others have not.
I tried twice.
The easiest 'jig' you can use is a tubing roller (like the one that is/was floating around here earlier, but then broke in my hands). Harbor Freight makes a tube rolling device, but the dies that come with it does not include a 1/2" die.
The fellow listed above (2 threads back) has the Harbor Freight jig and had special dies made to accomodate the 1/2" tubing.
I just received my coils back. They look great.

This is one part of the build that I would definitely recommend hiring someone else to do or purchase one from Spike. It's VERY easy to turn 80$ into junk rather quickly with one misstep.

I built a jig to recoil 50' of half inch stainless to fit my keggle. I found the idea from V Twin on HBT, DIY section.

Hey Pitbull is the jig guide you used? http://home.comcast.net/~bkerby/DIYTubingBender.pdf
I still need to coil my stainless steel tubing, kinda scared, but I am thinking if I am careful and build a jig like in the link above, I will do it right.

Yeah MattR, that is the jig I used. It was easy to build. Make sure you get the right pulleys and take it slow.

After reading these endless threads on Talk and here, the best deal out there is here with Uncle Spike. All those other coiling operations have to add a bunch of hard 90 degree fittings. No thanks.
The Uncle Spike version is well worth it....
... if you have the budget.

Unfortunately Spike's won't fit in a keggle!

I just ordered everything from KAL DIY. I didn't ordere the coil because of the potential money saved. I've made 3 CFC and 2 Immersion chillers with copper and only had a couple problems with kinks. Is the SS that much harder to work with? After reading the 300+ entries on this I may cough up the extra 150 and go with the premade one from Spike.
Thanks guys for the wealth of info on here.

The smaller diameter coils are available, you just have to know where to find them! Also only 2 elbows is nothing more than 2 straight compression fittings. Plus I like the look of the elbow fittings better.

I just ordered the Electric Brewery Coil after being utterly P.O.ed trying to getting my coil situated. I wish I just had gone that route originally. This is the last freaking thing I need to get in!!!!

For those figuring out what they want to do - I highly recommend just buying it from Spike Innovations. You will save a lot of headaches and money.

+1 to that. Buying from Spike is way to go. I did, and no regrets.
