You could use that. The main differences from using the bare bones transformer and ac/dc converter is that you need to find some way to fix it to the backplane, and also a way to connect the 120v wires to the prongs on the transformer. It would work, but it would be a less rugged setup.

You could, but to do it correctly you'd need to install a single gang outlet box inside the panel and then plug this in and then tie-wrap it down or something.
It's not "correct" to simply attach one of these things (a wall wart transformer) inside the box somewhere and then tap onto the 120V spades.

Thanks guys. Seems like there are a ton of questions on powering the little meters on this forum and I'm more nervous about that than any other part of my build.
