I am currently building a duplicate of the electric brewery, obviously Its no small task and will take me a few months. While I'm building the new brewery I am still mashing in my old 10 gal drink cooler.
Right now I just mash in with 1.25 quarts per pond of grain all the water is in full contact. My new 20 gal mash tun is fairly wide from the kettle bottom to the false bottom is a fairly large volume. Aprox 1.5-2 gallons of water would be under the false bottom not in contact with the grains.
So my question is do I just add the volume of water to my normal strike waterr as a "base"?
Thanks,
~Jake

Ok that's what I had thought but just wanted to check. Thanks for the reply and for sharing this amazing project in such detail with everyone.
