My 7 year old setup is not coming on. I'm following the troubleshooting guidelines. If I bypass the power key switch and it still doesn't come on, that should indicate the switch is not the problem. The 7A fuse passes the continuity check. I'm thinking my power in relay has failed. Thoughts?

Hi!

You'll need to trace back from the power input to see where the voltage is no longer present when you expect it to be. It could be something related to the SAFE START INTERLOCK.

See here for testing steps:

https://shop.theelectricbrewery.com/pages/testing-your-control-panel-as-you-build-it#Safe_start_interlock

Let us know how you make out and any other questions you have. The good news is that it's going to be something very simple to fix most likely. Usually a single (inexpensive) part.

Cheers!

Kal

Thanks for the reply Kal. I built the system in 2016 so I don't have a Safe Start Interlock. I'll keep checking power feeds throughout the system.

Ah! Ok, if you built something custom then our troubleshooting tips will not necessarily work for you as they assume you followed our wiring diagrams. Since we don't know how you wired your panel, it's difficult to make specific suggestions unfortunately. Working backwards to see where the voltage drops is my suggestion. Eventually you won't see the 120V or 240V, and then you'll know where the issue is. Good luck!

Hey Kal, nope nothing custom here, I followed your instructions to the letter. The Safe Start Interlock was optional so I didn't put it in. I will follow your advice on tracing the voltage. Thanks for your time and making this system available, its made a lot of beer over the last 7 years.

Ok, that should make it easier! Trace it back and see where it breaks. Let us know if you have any questions. Cheers!
