Hi,
I just brewed the Pub Ale for the first time. It went into kegs this evening. I have read what was written about carbing for serving and since the posts were kind of old I was hoping someone could help me with a best method for getting it ready to serve. I have a stout faucet and am using a 75/25 nitrogen Co2 mix. When I put it into kegs today I set the regulator for 35 psi for fast carbing. I feel like I read the instructions wrong. That I should have hooked up the straight Co2 to that amount and left for 24 hours.
In anyone else's experience, is there a way to make it ready to serve quickly using the mixed gas? Should I back up and switch to Co2?

Both methods work: you can precarb with straight co2 and then push with beer gas, or just hook it up to beer gas to carb and serve. Feel free to precarb with co2 set to much higher pressure like 30-40 psi for a day or so if you want to be serving in ~24 hours. Good luck!

Hi Kal. I have a question about your last answer. If you have carbed at 30 psi for 24 hours, do you then vent the keg down to say 5 psi for the serving pressure?

No. As putting the beer to 30-40 PSI for a short duration won't put 30-40 PSI into the beer. The goal is to get the beer to a certain level you want by going over for a short duration. If you left it forever it would eventually balance at 30-40PSI but we don't want that. You may only get to 5 PSI over 24 hours (which is maybe what you want). This requires trial and error of course. If that isn't desired, then use the set and forget method and simply wait as you can't go over or under that way. Set and forget to (say) 5 PSI will eventually get 5 PSI into the beer. This can take ~2 weeks.

Hi Kal,
I was rereading one of your earlier posts and you mentioned that you use a CO2/Nitro blend regulator. Does that mean you have separate Co2 and Nitrogen tanks and mix the gases on the spot rather than buying a premixed gas?
