Hey guys, new to the forum as I just recently started to build my electric system to get away from the old days of two Home Depot coolers. Very Happy

Anyway, I was plugging along, and thought I was doing pretty damn good until an electrician friend of mine informed me that on the power relays the incoming power goes on the terminals on top and outgoing power goes out on the bottom. This confuses me as 1) I'm not an electrician, and 2) I followed the images in the instruction set, the only difference is the ones sent in the kit aren't exactly the same as the ones in the instructions. I certainly don't want to fry this thing the first time I use it.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

The relays (and contactors) we use in our kits and instructions do not have polarity. It doesn't matter which way they're installed.

There are some polarised relays that use permanent magnets to either assist or to latch the relay, or relays with integrated diodes (across the coil however - not across the switch points). These do care about polarity. But they are are not used here.

Whenever polarity matters in the build instructions we make sure to specify it.

Cheers!

Kal
