So years back I bought my MLT used as you couldn't find the GEN1 Boilermakers. It already had the recirc hole installed directly at 90 degrees, so I just left it. The problem is that I have to turn the MLT semi sideways as the valve on the exterior hits the HLT...well I'm finally readfy to fix this and move the recirc valve to something more like 45 degrees, as specified in the building your brewery instructions. My question is thus, has anyone ever put together a plug for one of these 13/16" holes?

I'm looking to basically mimic the blichmann brewmometer hole plug..which makes me think I just need a bolt that will fill the 13/16 hole, coupled with an O-ring, washer, and nut. Sound about right?

And I guess worth adding, we're probably not even super concerned about 100% water-tightness here as the liquid level won't ever be this high...so mostly just heat retention?

Yup. Basically something like this sized fo the different hole size you have:

Not sure where this recirc hole is exactly that you want to plug but it sounds like it's very high? If that's the case then yes, there's really little to be concerned with. Even heat escaping frankly is a non-issue as while there may be a tiny extra bit if heat, it's not much and the thin stainless already radiates so much heat (it's not a great insulator). But neither matter either as the heating element will simply run when needed to maintain temp. You could probably even run the HLT with the lid completely off and you wouldn't know the difference, other than a few extra pennies on your electrical bill and extra steam in the room. Wink

Good luck!
