I purchased this system back in 2013 and used it consistently for about 2 years. Because of work I had to put it in storage and after 5 years I am finally ready to unpack it and set up my dream brew room. After storing it for so long is there anything you suggest I do before running it? Anything special you would recommend to run through it to give a good clean? I read your Cleaning article, do you think OxyClean is all that's needed? Will I need to recalibrate or replace the temperature probes?

Thanks

Hi!

Nothing specially really other than a cleaning (if even needed). If you kept the lids on the kettles or kept them covered somewhat you won't even need that. Remember that this is the HOT side of the brewing process and everything will be boiled. There's nothing sanitary about the hot side of the brewing process. Maybe run some OxiClean or PBW through the chiller if you like. See: https://shop.theelectricbrewery.com/pages/oxiclean-baby-or-free-oxygen-based-cleaner

You don't need to replace the temperature probes. You may want to make sure they're still calibrated. See: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/control-panel-setup

Happy brewing!

Kal

Thanks for the quick reply Kal. I followed the calibration link you attached and noticed some of my PID setting are way off. Before adjusting them I just wanted to make sure I was in the right setting. Are these the I, P, D setting you mentioned that should be set to 350, 40, and 2 respectively?

Thanks
