Has anyone had any issues with their DIY kit in regards to the enclosure itself? I finally decided to add a 2nd element to my HLT to take advantage of the 50 amp panel that I built and order the kit. But the enclosure internals are rather different than the elements I built a year or so ago. The grounding posts have been relocated and there is no longer the bracket that the cover screws screw into. It has cast in standoffs.
The reason this is an issue is that when I drill through and affix the backside cover that the element passes through, the screw holes end up right next to and partially bisecting the sides of the grounding posts. This doesn't allow for the nuts to go onto two of the screws. I can't clock it 90 degrees as the cast in standoffs for the cover are in the way.
Top photo is my first element and the second is the new enclosure. Ignore my sloppy JB Weld. I realized the issue with the hole location after I flipped it over. I had already drilled the holes through and applied the JB Weld and went to place the nuts and had an "oh sh*t" moment. Started monkeying around trying to figure out my options and made an awful mess of things.
