|
|
I thought I would reach out and see if anyone has experienced one of their PIDs failing. I have the 30A system from The Electric Brewery and it has worked spectacularly for the past several years. I've been brewing 10 gal batches at least once a month for about 5 years and this is the first difficulty I have run into (that wasn't my own doing).
While brewing a Schwarzbier from the recipe page, I found the brew kettle PID went blank at some point during the mash process. I moved the brew kettle power line to the HLT plug and kept going so I didn't waste the day. At some point in the boil, the Brew PID lit back up and I was able to complete the boil using the the correct PID and connection.
I powered down, cleaned and then powered back up to see if the fault was still there. Sure enough the Brew PID was blank again. I check the power coming into the PID and there is power, but it doesn't display anything. Here is what it looks like this morning.

So the questions are:
Is there a process I can go through to check to find the cause?
Should I just replace the module and see if that corrects it?
I really appreciate any advise and/or expertise you all can give.
