Hey all,
Getting ready to brew my NEIPA and came across a recent Brulosophy article that mentioned this article.
Any personal experience from anyone on reducing the amount of hops they use for an IPA and got great results? My NEIPA uses a ridiculous amount of hops (2.575 oz/gal) and I'd like to reduce the amount but interested in hearing other people's experiences.
Thanks!
perogi.

I think it comes down to personal perception as well as your process. I tried a similar experiment recently with a Pliny the Elder clone I brewed (much less hops), and didn't like it as much as my original recipe. Someone else may think differently. I suggest trying a reduced hop beer yourself and decide for yourself as at the end of the day that's all that matters. I do agree with the 'more is not always better' approach however, but context is incredibly important and lost most of the time.

Thanks Kal. Interesting result in your experiment. This is for a housewarming party of a friend so I'm nervous in changing a well-loved recipe.

I do suggest you try yourself and see, you never know! That said, if you have a recipe that's a big hit and you need to brew for an event, that's not the time to start changing things up...
Good luck!
