So I am at work listening to my daily podcasts... but a day behind, listening to 'Market Place with Kai Ryssdal' and I hear a story on "Waiter, there's corn syrup in my beer!". An interesting listen and then bam... the John Palmer! So here is the link to an about two minute story:

https://www.marketplace.org/2019/02/04/business/waiter-theres-corn-syrup-my-beer

"Bud Light used some of the most expensive advertising time in television history to announce that its beer doesn’t contain corn syrup and that its rivals Miller Lite and Coors Light do. The National Corn Growers Association wasn’t happy. Nor was MillerCoors, which shot back that Bud Light’s parent Anheuser-Busch InBev brews other beers that use the stuff. But many viewers simply wondered, “Wait, corn syrup?” Turns out it's used in lots of beers to make them lighter than those brewed with barley alone, to reduce carbohydrates or to give them more kick."

Some light beers use corn. Some use rice. Don't confuse marketing with facts. The Bud Light folks are simply trying to confuse ignorant consumers, possibly by assuming that consumers will think of "high fructose corn syrup" (which is considered bad) when they hear the words "corn syrup".

The super bowl commercial is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26WB0FZTyZk&feature=youtu.be

Many are not amused by this, including corn growers and beer drinkers: https://www.google.com/search?q=corn+syrup+bud+light+commercial

Hi JSB. It is not for nothing that BUD is advertised in this way, in 2007 they had a question with GMO corn. By itself, corn syrup is not terrible, but we often use GMOs, as well as around the world - because it is much more profitable. And since GMOs have not been tested for a long period of time, there are very big questions and suspicions about various diseases for them. So only organic!
