I fellow brewer told me about a homebrew beer can sealer made by Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry (WAF). Questions - If I brew a batch of beer (say an IPA) and "bottle" half of it and "can" half of it, would both taste the same? what are the plusses and minuses to canning?

the seal on cans last longer, they stack and package better, they don't break, if you pour the beer out into the glass it should taste the same but drinking from the bottle and can side by side I can smell the can but then again I don't drink from either anymore I pour all beer in a glass _________________ "Imagination is more important than knowledge. No exposure to light in the can. One thing I wonder about is the surface area of the liquid in the can. Meaning if you force carb in a keg then transfer to a can you have the possibility of more exposure to air if you don't ream on foam. _________________ Visit dp Brewing Company

yep seems like with a can (on the homebrew scale) you'd need to condition the beer in the can with priming sugar, etc. not sure one could force carbonate for can storage. i assume one couldn't reuse a can like a bottle either. light wouldn't be a problem if you believe in that- i was a steward for beer competition last year and the judge made me stage the bottles underneath the judging table so they wouldn't be exposed to flourescent light - go figure...
