I've noticed that when I use my Hanna pH meter, same one Kal recommends, the pH seems to slowly but constantly climb when I leave it in water or the mash. Is that normal? I've calibrated recently so I am pretty sure that's not an issue.
This is about a 6 month old meter and I've always kept it in storage solution.

How was the probe tip when you bought it? Was it still moist?
Reason I ask is that I've heard of some getting ones that have been sitting for a long time and the tips have dried out / need replacing. Normally if it drifts over time, that's because it's old. Under normal use it should stabilize on a reading (more or less - jumping around by .01 or .02 is probably to be expected).
I still have my original tip, purchased in 2009.

Hmm, I honestly don't remember it being moist or not when I bought it.
It doesn't seem to swing wildly, but it was just climbing by .01...first somewhat quickly and ten gradually getting slower and slower. About how long does it take to 'stabilize' on a reading?

Good question. I don't think I've ever timed it, but it's usually just a few seconds. A really crappy video of me using it about 10 years ago:
