Depending on what I'm brewing I'll use a bit of rice hulls to prevent a stuck mash. Maybe the rice hulls do nothing but give me piece of mind.
Anyway, when using rice hulls in the mash are the rice hulls included when calculating the amount of mash water needed?
As an example, my recipe has 20 lbs of grains. I'll include 1 lb of rice hulls too. Do I calculate the mash water needed using 20 lbs or 21 lbs?
Thanks.

That's a good question. I've never added additional water but maybe I should be.
