Hello all. I'm new to the forum. I've been on the web sight for quite a while for info though. Just wanted to say thanks to Kal for doing all of this. It's nothing short of amazing. I'm building a basement/garage electric brewery and ventilation is my newest hurdle. I've been brewing electric in the basement for just over a year now using half measures for ventilation and subsequently turning the basement into a rain forest each time. Really fun in the winter when it's all closed up. Anyway, I finally built a hood and installed a fan like Kal is using. Used it for the first time today and all hell broke loose. The moisture was condensing in the pipe to the point where it was dripping out of the elbows and fan. See the attached links to photos and video. My understanding is that if you move enough air the moisture won't collect. The fan seems to be moving quite a bit of air. I guess it's like anything else. There's usually more to it than meets the eye. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum! Glad to hear you're enjoying the website!

Take a look at my Ventilation article - specifically "STEP 4: Install fan and ducts" here: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/ventilation?page=6
Make sure to use aluminum tape and insulation as per the instructions. That will fix everything.

Cheers!

Kal

Ok. So I've seen this in action on other posts on this forum. I wondered if it would be the case for my post. Kal...You rock. Same afternoon response! Your attentiveness to this forum and ownership of what you've done here goes beyond what most people can even conceive of these day. Thank you! I've used the link and ordered the insulation. I have most of a role of aluminum tape left. Guess I should have read that section better. Lol. I see where you've taped all the elbows. Gonna do that and insulate and look forward to a drier brew day next month. Thanks again Kal!

You’re welcome!

Make sure too to have a drip hole in the fan too as the little bit of water that will drip you want coming out of there as you’ll be trapping it. See the instructions for complete details - bottom of the page here: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/ventilation?page=4

Cheers!

Kal
