Seems I inadvertently brewed what, at least to me, tastes like my granddad’s Bud. I don’t mean this in a bad way. A Bud of the 1950s/60.

85.4% Pilsner malt
9.7% Crystal 10L
4.9% Honey malt
15.8 IBUs Crystal (3.8%) at 60 minutes
1.5 IBUs Centennial (7.8%) at 1 minute
Wyeast 2007

Just kegged today. 4.8% ABV.

Doesn't taste bad, however wasn't what I intended.

So, perhaps the Honey malt makes a Bud type taste/smell/flavor? I've brewed other lagers with Pilsner malt and crystal 10L (and other malts) and didn't have the Bud results.

Sampled again after carbonating using CO2. Now tastes like a good pale ale. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
