I know many that do this even if it isn't the same beer. You should be fine as you stated in terms of contamination or whatever as the keg will be completely full of CO2.
That said, I don't do this. I pop off the disconnects and soak everything for a couple of days in Oxiclean and then rinse, re-assemble, purge with CO2, and keg.
