Just finished sparging and was bringing my wort to a boil. All of a sudden I realized it wasn't getting hotter and the light wasn't on. Opened the panel to find the SSR fried. I did some research and my batch should be okay if I can find a replacement first thing tomorrow. What would have caused this to happen? This is the 4th batch I've brews in the last 4 weeks and probably my 12th overall.

Most likely one of two things:

(1) A loose connection, or
(2) A fake SSR (Google "fake Fotek SSRs").

Thanks Kal. Must have been a fake. I'm surprised it lasted this long. I went to my electric supply store this morning and got a new one and put it on. Now I'm heating up my boil and hopefully the beer will turn out okay.

its a fake its missing the notch. i got the exact same ones off amazon. i noticed immedietly and got my money back luckily
