Hey guys, in the process of building out my electric brewery using 20G blichmann kettles.

Until I move space is limited so I was able to carve out 60" of space for a stainless steel table that I think I can fit everything on. The dilema I have is it seems like it would be preferable to put the panel to the side of the table. However, I do not have space to do that unless I move my lagering fridge over, which I cannot do because of shelving and irrigation panel.

I have two options.

1) install the panel above the kettles
2) install the panel to the left of my lagering freezer where my irrigation panel currently is located. The con of doing that is I won't be able to easy view it while brewing.

I am leaning towards having the panel behind/above the kettles. Especially because my table is 36" deep and 60" wide, so I will have some space behind the kettles if I want to.

What would you guys suggest?

I take it the garage door to the right is open to the outside? I'd probably put the boil kettle on the right side and then put the control panel over the HLT which would be completely on the left. This way steam off the boil kettle will go outside and not cross over the control panel.

Is that table wide enough for 3 x 20 gallon kettles? Seems narrow.

Good luck!

Kal

Thanks Kal that makes sense and seems like good advice.

So you don't think there should be any issue with steam/heat from the HLT for the electronics or human usability on the control panel?

Nope. The HLT lid will be on most of the time.

EDIT: That's assuming you build the design I outline on our website and use the same panel too of course.

I would not go above due to the amount of moisture rising from the brew kettle. For the same reason, I'd keep the control panel away from the brew kettle (meaning don't put to the right of the brew kettle). Possible to use a TV swing arm wall mount (that's what I used)? I've seen others have used a mobile, wheeled device to hold the control panel (reminds me of something from a hospital).

Not sure if you have space elsewhere in your garage to roll the control panel out of the way but you could mount it on a rolling stand and just roll it into place and make connections on brew day. Go to Kal's testimonals page and search "John C., Hudson" - his panel mount is what I'm suggesting (as well as Kraig above).

Here is a pic from his testimonial...
