I'm going to brew one in a few weeks. Just wondering if you're willing to share your recent recipe or any pointers from your research. Thanks!

Why did you use an immersion chiller to bring the wort down to 160 for the hop stand? Why not just recirculate through the counterflow back into the kettle? Were you worried about hot side aeration? Also, what is your process for sanitizing the counterflow? I thought that I had read that you run boiling wort through it at the end of your boil for a few mins but looking back on the brew day step by step I don't see that. It also wouldn't be an option doing the hop stand the way you did. Any tips?

I run my wort the last 20 minutes through the CFC to sanitize the CFC. After the boil I whirlpool in the kettle from recirculating from the CFC. I haven't seen any signs of hot side aeration.

Hot water rinse and ~30 min soak with oxiclean both before and after use.

Kal,
You do this process every time you brew? That would be a big pain, I would think.

Yes. It's no work at all as nothing get moved (only a couple of mins). While I'm boiling the hose that is connected to the boil kettle output is connected to the faucet using this: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/hoses?page=5
Hot tap water is flushed through the system to warm things up for a minute or so. I then disconnect/connect two or three times and and squirt in a few squirts of oxiclean each time, and push a bit more hot water. I then let it sit for ~30 mins and then flush. Same after the boil.

Interesting, I didn't realize that oxiclean was suitable for sterilizing. I have always used starsan before and either hot water or oxyclean to clean after. Also when you say soak, you are actually removing the chiller from the table and submersing it in the oxiclean? or do you just circulate the water through the chiller with your pumps?
