Happy New Year!

Look for the following recipes from me in 2017: Belgian Saison, American Porter (a Deschutes Black Butte clone), Scottish 70/-, the New England style APA shown in the picture above, and our recently kegged Electric Hop Candy (a New England style IPA).

Here's hoping for lots of fantastic brew days and beers in 2017!

Kal

Happy new year!

If it helps this is my recipe (based on many others I am sure, including can you brew it) for a Deschutes Black Butte Porter clone (my favorite beer of theirs). Of note I have used 1968 for the yeast rather than the London alternatives. That said, I have done a side by side and not found any difference whatsoever.

Thanks mvakoc!

Mine's was actually kegged last week - I brewed it back on Dec 18th. Wink

Yours is extremely similar to mine and I also based mine on the 'Can You Brew It' episode where Mike "Tasty" McDole brewed it and cloned it spot on: http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com/post1601/ (Aug 17, 2009). It includes information directly from the brewer.

My water profile's slightly different from what they discussed (mostly getting Ca up to 129) but nothing overly major that I think would cause big differences.

It's now carb'ing up. I plan on serving it on Nitro.
