I'm fairly new to kegging, but I think I have a pretty good understanding.
I am using Ball Lock kegs, some converted some new, but all are configured with ball lock post.
The diameter of the posts are slightly different between the gas and liquid sides; I understand why because these kegs were used by barely educated teenagers in movie theaters and were different on the in / out sides to make them as Murphy Proof as possible.
My question is why now?
I have on several occasions in the process of cleaning, purging, filling, transferring, etc had a need to put a Gas QD on a liquid line and a Liquid QD on a gas line. I use 1/4" Flare fittings on all of my hoses so this is not a big problem, but I have been wondering why not change all of the posts to the same size on both gas and liquid and then only use one style QD fitting. Now I would have to be more careful when connecting because I could hook things up backwards but I think with proper labeling this should not be a large concern.
Thoughts?
And yes I know if I did this I would have a non-standard configuration and I could not take a keg to someone else party...

I would think that it would be cheaper to buy a couple of gas fittings to put liquid lines on and a few liquid fittings to put airlines on instead of buying new posts to change out half of how many kegs you have.
Plus it would keep them standard so you could take them somewhere without any problems.
