hey guys,
I have just finished building an 8X5X8 coldroom for serving kegs, coldcrashing and storing stuff....
I am currently going with a 24000 btu lg fridge and a modifided DIY coldbot - http://storeitcold.com/
On coldbots site they talk about efficiency advantages of ac over commerical compressors, if this is true why would anyone use commercial compressors?
I guess I am imaginging the commercial coldroom freezer units have some advantage or else they wouldnt exist. I just dont know what they are. Would love to know what it would cost me to get a proper cooling unit, and what if anything the advantages would be to getting one....
Thanks
Todd

check out the coolbot page on who shouldn't use one:
http://storeitcold.com/disadvantages.html
the biggest issue is speed. an a/c unit just can't pump out the thermal mass like a traditional compressor. for a restaurant kitchen, bar, walk-in beer cooler at a liquor store, etc., it just wouldn't work. doors open too frequently and warm product is regularly being introduced, too much for a window a/c unit to keep up with.
